This trail guide booklet will help you enjoy your walk along Had Mail Ngam Trail by providing information about local geography, land and marine flora and fauna which you might spot along the way. You will also learn about the Moken and how their way of life is closely related to the Islands environment and resources. For example, the Moken collect wild fruit and leaves to consume fresh or for cooking such as Pawan leaves (Meliantha suavis) and Ka-ning (Diospyros sp.) fruit. Medicinal plants can also be gathered from the same forest. Ba-ai (Derris indica) bark is collected and ground into a paste and mixed with water to rub on and cool infant’s head.
